INSPIRATIONS SOFTWARE

OVERVIEW:                    
     This training module is designed to acquaint staff members with the software produce INSPIRATIONS.  It will be covered in a one to three hour in-service that will incorporate instruction and demonstration time with "play and "explore" time for the participants to discover areas that they might be able to use in their classrooms.

 

TARGET AUDIENCE:
     Each design team member will have a slightly different audience.  Basically, the application will be directed at teachers in language arts.  However, the program can be adapted for other uses.  The target audience includes high school English teachers, middle school English teachers, and elementary teachers.  The participants will be able to use the program in the classroom to teach writing skills, thinking skills, comparison/contrast, and organization skills.            

                                                          

 

OBJECTIVES AND GOALS:
bullet1.  To demonstrate the basic functions of the software INSPIRATIONS.
bullet2.  To introduce staff members to a new teaching tool.
bullet3.  To allow staff members to explore the functions of the software on their own.
bullet4.  To encourage staff members to find uses for the software in their classrooms.

 

CONTENT OF SESSION:
bullet     Overview of software program
bullet     Explanation of TOOLBARS and what each icon does
bullet     Begin demonstration of usage with participants following on computers
bullet     Allow time after demo for questions and individual exploration                                     

 

INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES
bullet1.  Lecture--some explanation of Toolbars and functions will be necessary.
bullet2.  Demonstration of the software functions--design team members will explain and facilitate; staff members will follow the directions on computers.
bullet3.  Handouts--Toolbar icon explanation and step-by-steps
bullet4.  Question/Answer opportunity
bullet5.  "Play time" to allow participants to explore the software individually

 

MATERIALS NEEDED:
bulletComputers with Inspiration software installed
bulletHelp from the technology coordinator of the school
bulletPrinter or copy machine to duplicate help sheets
bulletSome design team members may wish to use an overhead projector or perhaps a projection system for a PowerPoint presentation
